The Artistic Mind- A revolutionary approach

The Artistic Mind- A revolutionary approach

What is Art? And how can we possibly describe it. According to me Art encompasses such a vast variety of creations that it can not be confined to a certain definition or description.
The definition of art is controversial in contemporary philosophy. Whether art can be defined has also been a matter of controversy. The philosophical usefulness of a definition of art has also been debated.
Art can be expressed in the form of an amazing melody composed by a gifted musician, in the form of a beautiful figure made by the hands of a creative Sculptor, in the form of a colorful picture painted by the hands of a visionary Painter or in the form of various and innovative objects made by talented Artists.
Art is the physical result of the expression of our feelings through our talents; therefore it can come in many different forms.
The artistic culture in Pakistan dates back to more than 5,000 years to the period of the Indus civilization. Also called the Indus Valley or Harappan civilization, Indus was the earliest known urban culture of the Indian subcontinent. The emphasis on the Islamic religion has brought about a strong romantic identification with Islamic culture in Pakistan.
Traditionally, literature – most notably poetry – has been one of the richest forms of art in Pakistan. Artists began creating works of art to promote Pakistan’s independence in 1947, although the nation’s government was still undecided. In the midst of this tense political uncertainty, writers questioned and critiqued Pakistan’s founding in stories and poems. Poetry is a highly respected art and profession in Pakistan, with its preeminent form in Persian, partly due to the long standing affiliation the region had with the Persian Empire.
Art is a medium through which we express our emotions, intellect and ideas. It is through art that we can communicate to the world our inner feelings and our creativity that only exists within our minds. Art has many forms from visual arts to performing arts. Many great civilizations and cultures are perceived to be great because they were advanced in arts. The strength and culture of an entire nation or civilization rests upon how rich the art of that particular country or civilization is. There are different forms of art like painting, sculpture, literature, architecture, music, dance, theater and films. This article sheds light on different art forms and how they have evolved through the centuries.
Art has been around for thousands of years, from primitive cave scrawling and pictures to the sophisticated varieties of art we have nowadays. Art exists in many types and genres, and can be made with a wide variety of materials. Artists may make artwork with pastels, oil paints, pen and ink, pencil, collage and acrylic paint and they may apply these media with brushes, sponges and other tools or even their own hands. Some of the genres of art include still life and floral, landscape and interior, portraiture and figure, abstract and experimental, and animal or wildlife art. Any of these genres may be made of a variety of materials or media and any of these genres may fit into a separate category or type of art. We have to keep in mind that types of art can overlap, so art does not always fall perfectly into set categories.
Apart from that there are several other forms of art that include music, poetry and dance.
Such artistic modes of expression have had great value and importance in ancient cultures of the world. Some cultures are respected and popular because of their artistic achievements like famous buildings, magnificent sculptures, great melodies and amazing paintings.
The creative arts are often divided into more specific categories, each related to its technique, or medium, such as decorative arts, plastic arts, performing arts, or literature. Unlike scientific fields, art is one of the few subjects that are academically organized according to technique. An artistic medium is the substance or material the artistic work is made from, and may also refer to the technique used. For example, paint is a medium used in painting, and paper is a medium used in drawing.
An art form is the specific shape, or quality an artistic expression takes. The media used often influence the form. For example, the form of a sculpture must exist in space in three dimensions, and respond to gravity. The constraints and limitations of a particular medium are thus called its formal qualities. To give another example, the formal qualities of painting are the canvas texture, color, and brush texture. The formal qualities of video games are non-linearity, interactivity and virtual presence. The form of a particular work of art is determined by the formal qualities of the media, and is not related to the intentions of the artist or the reactions of the audience in any way what so ever.
A genre is a set of conventions and styles within a particular medium. For instance, well recognized genres in film are western, horror and romantic comedy. Genres in music include death metal and trip hop. Genres in painting include still life and pastoral landscape. A particular work of art may bend or combine genres but each genre has a recognizable group of conventions, clichés and tropes.
After considering many approaches and numerous definitions of art, the most suitable explanation would be that art is the expression of human emotions and creativity which results in a visible or audible creation.
